Course Description
Welcome to course MPTUO1a – Introduction to Psychology. This course is derived from the American Psychological Association’s Teachers of Psychology in Secondary Schools (APA TOPSS) course template for high school psychology.
The template was developed at the APA Summit on High School Psychology Education at Weber State University in July of 2017. It was designed by teachers and professors, for use by high school psychology teachers. The template aligns with APA’s National Standards for High School Psychology Curricula based on the original domains and standards areas included in the Units of Study listed on this page.
The free MPTUO1a My Psych Teacher University course is an adaptation of the original APA TOPSS course template. Modifications were made by Shenica Graham in order to create the college level introductory course that you encounter here.
In this 8-week online course, students will discover prevailing research and information in the field of psychology. The curriculum helps students effectively identify key persons in the history of psychological study. After completing this course, students will be able to choose a path to further education in the field of psychology. Students will interact effectively with their peers in the online community.
